CCTV system for a warehouse or online shop
Goods-in, dispatch, shelving. Oversight of stock and processes, not surveillance of people.
Typical project
What a realistic CCTV system for a warehouse looks like.
The figures below are an indicative range for this type of property, not statistics from completed jobs: we do not have reference projects yet (see the References section on the homepage). Your situation will differ; the range is a good starting point for a first conversation.
8 - 20
cameras for a warehouse of 1,000 - 5,000 m²
4K + AI
person and forklift detection in shelving aisles
30 days
retention period - typical range for logistics and claims
2 - 4 days
installation including cabling across the hall
Camera placement
- ● Goods-in and loading ramps
- ● Dispatch line and packing stations
- ● Shelving aisles (depending on hall size)
- ● Storage for high-value or high-risk goods
- ● Perimeter at the staff entrance
- ● Outdoor perimeter and delivery parking
Technology
Our standard is UniFi Protect.
For warehouses and online shops the challenge is covering large areas and reading detail (barcodes, delivery number plates). UniFi Protect scales to dozens of cameras on one network and one app.
Alternatives:
Dahua / Ajax (for smaller warehouses with a limited budget - we explain transparently what that means for coverage and AI features)
- 01 AI detection of people and forklifts, throughput counting
- 02 Optional integration with attendance and access-control systems
- 03 High resolution for reading barcodes and delivery number plates
- 04 Multi-site management for several warehouses or pickup points
- 05 Clip export for claims with a customer or carrier
Process
Consultation, design, installation, service. Fixed price after the second step.
For warehouses we treat cabling across the hall as part of the design - inspection (free of charge, within 7 days), then a proposal with camera positions, cabling and a fixed price.
Detailed description of the process →Frequently asked questions
Before you contact us.
- Does the system help prevent stock loss?
- Yes, combining shelf and dispatch coverage with AI detection is designed exactly for that - not as surveillance, but as evidence when a stock count does not match.
- Can it connect to the warehouse's access-control system?
- Yes, UniFi Protect integrates well with UniFi Access if you also handle entry points and attendance.
- Does it work in a large hall with tall shelving?
- Yes, we position and angle cameras so aisles have no blind spots - that is part of the design, not an add-on.
- Does this also monitor staff on the dispatch line?
- Cameras cover processes (goods-in, dispatch, shelving), not individuals specifically - the information duty toward staff still applies.
- How much does it cost?
- It depends on the floor area, number of cameras and cabling. After the consultation you receive a fixed price by email, not an estimate. Consultation and design are free of charge.
